Dr. Villines was born in Zug, Switzerland, and emigrated to the United States with her parents in 1971. She received her DVM from the University of Tennessee's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. She is affiliated with the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, and her interests are animal behavior, internal medicine and surgery.

She and her husband Joshua live in Decatur with their son John Francis and two cats, Nani and Lilo. Their National showhorse, Miracle, resides in Athens, GA. Dr. Villines also enjoys movies, live music, cycling, hiking, traveling and, thunderstorms , especially when shared with family and friends.
